SUMMARY:SUMMER COURSE: Technological revolution and the future of labour
DESCRIPTION:The national leaders of trade unions and employers will be responsible for initiating the sessions of the course “Technological revolution and the future of work”\, which will take place within the framework of the Summer Courses of the Complutense University in Madrid. Historically ingrained fears in society about excessive robotization in the world of work and the consequent impact of employment on the future clash with the unstoppable advance of new technologies and their adaptation in the business world\, which also poses a threat to work as a universal right for many. \nThe so-called technological revolution is still a mystery as to its impact on the future of work\, although many of the indicators indicate that a large number of jobs will eventually disappear\, others will be transformed as a means of recycling and there is no doubt that new jobs will also appear that were previously unknown. In any case\, the debate is on the table and the ball is in the court of the social partners and the legislators\, the protagonists of the programme. \nIn this sense\, during the inauguration sessions of the course\, personalities of the stature of Juan Pablo Riesgo\, Secretary of State for Employment; Unai Sordo and Pepe Álvarez\, general secretaries of the majority unions CCOO and UGT respectively; Juan Rosell\, president of the CEOE employers’ association; Antonio Garamendy\, president of the employers’ association for small and medium-sized enterprises (CEPYME) or Joaquín Nieto\, director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) office in Spain\, among others\, will pass through the classrooms of the Novitiate building. \nThe programme also includes the participation of leading experts in this field\, such as the director of the Observatory of Ideas Andrés Ortega\, who will speak on the era of digitalisation and robotics and its impact on society and work; La Salle-Ramón Llull’s Professor of Engineering\, Elisabet Golobardes\, who will speak on artificial intelligence\, or the ILO’s Coordinator of Industrial Policies and Structural Transformation Programme\, Irmgard Nubler\, who will present her vision of world trends in the future of work\, among many others. \nIn addition\, there will also be a chance to get to know first-hand the views of the main political groups of the parliamentary arch\, through their spokespersons in the Congress of Deputies: Rafael Hernando (PP)\, Margaritas Robles (PSOE)\, Juan Carlos Girauta (Cs) and Irene Montero (UP). \nPROGRAM \nSUMMER COURSE: Technological revolution and the future of labour
